Loureiro Engineering Associates is seeking a Project Scientist to add to our Environmental team in Connecticut.

Our goal is to employ the right individuals to be a part of our team, learning and working with experienced professionals who will help provide the formal training and mentoring needed to grow professionally and strive toward the opportunities that Loureiro can offer. 

Position Summary

The Project Scientist is responsible for providing the technical expertise required to accomplish the timely and accurate completion of projects assigned to him or her. The Project Scientist assures development of the designs, reports and opinions described in the contract between the firm and the client and advises the Project Manager of project costs.

Responsibilities:

  • Assists in preparation of proposal estimates of time and expense required to complete the project.
  • May participate in presenting the proposal to the client.
  • Participates in major project design decisions in conjunction with the Project Manager.
  • May assign duties to Project Team, answer their questions, and monitor their progress.
  • Provides the technical expertise for projects to which assigned.
  • May be delegated responsibility to maintain client contact throughout the development of the project.
  • May serve as Project Manager on certain projects.
  • Performs other related work as apparent or as assigned and performs all such work in a safe manner, consistent with the firm’s policies and procedures.

 Required Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent organization skills.
  • Ability to learn quickly, multi-task and prioritize.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.

 Knowledge and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering/geology/science.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in engineering designs of projects in his or her area of expertise.
  • Alternatively, any equivalent combination of education at the Masters or Doctoral level and experience.

.Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of sitting, walking, hiking, and standing.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. at a time.
  • Mobility control of hands to setup equipment, handle samples, and operate tools.
  • Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions and terrains.
  • Adherence to safety protocols and proper use of personal protective equipment.
