Description

Terraphase Engineering is seeking a Mid-Level Geologist, Environmental Scientist, or Engineer with 3 to 5 years of experience to join our Connecticut office. This role supports site assessment, investigation, remediation, hazardous building materials surveys, and environmental regulatory compliance projects.

The Role

  • Perform environmental field sampling of soil, unconsolidated deposits, bedrock, soil vapor, groundwater, surface water, sediment, and waste

  • Document field activities and observations accurately and concisely

  • Oversee soil borings and groundwater monitoring well installations conducted by subcontracted drillers

  • Serve as field task lead for investigation and remediation work plans

  • Conduct Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments

  • Perform asbestos and lead-based paint surveys

  • Support environmental permitting and Connecticut Transfer Act projects

  • Prepare project plans, permit applications, subcontractor agreements, and site specific Health and Safety Plans

  • Coordinate and oversee subcontractors including drillers, laboratories, and construction personnel

  • Analyze and interpret hydrogeologic and chemical data

  • Prepare draft technical reports for review by project managers and principals

  • Mentor junior staff on field procedures and standard operating practices

  • Maintain compliance with HASPs and applicable federal and state environmental regulations


Who You Are

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field

  • 3 to 5 plus years of environmental consulting experience

  • Strong written, verbal, and technical communication skills

  • Organized, analytical, and solutions oriented

  • Able to work independently and collaboratively within a project team

  • Comfortable managing subcontractors during field activities

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Adobe

  • Experience with GIS or drafting software preferred

  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record

  • Able to work outdoors for extended periods and travel as needed

  • Committed to safe work practices in environmentally impacted settings


Preferred Training and Certifications

  • OSHA 40 Hour HAZWOPER

  • CPR and First Aid

  • Connecticut Asbestos and Lead Inspector licenses

  • Interest in progression toward Project Manager responsibilities and PEP or LEP track
